🍃Tea Excursion Educational Tour: Jorhat – Kaziranga – Jorhat

Duration: 5 Days / 4 Nights

Theme: Tea Cultivation, History & Industry

Route: Jorhat → Kaziranga → Jorhat

Ideal For: Schools, universities, agriculture & botany students, tea enthusiasts

Day 1: Arrival in Jorhat – Introduction to Assam Tea

  • Arrival at Jorhat Airport/Railway Station
  • Transfer to accommodation and check-in
  • Welcome & Orientation Session:
    • Introduction to Assam’s tea heritage
    • Overview of the itinerary
  • Evening visit to Tocklai Tea Research Institute(subject to prior permission):
    • Learn about tea science, research, and innovations in tea processing
    • Meet with experts (if available)
  • Overnight in Jorhat

Day 2: Tea Estate Experience – Field to Cup

  • Visit to a traditional Assam Tea Garden Estate

    Educational walk through:

    • Tea nursery and plantation
    • Plucking demonstration and participation
    • Leaf grading and withering section
    • Tea processing unit (CTC or Orthodox)
  • Guided “Farm to Cup” session with plantation manager
  • Tea tasting session: understanding flavor profiles
  • Interaction with workers: understanding livelihood and sustainable practices
  • Evening: Group reflection & activity – “What goes into your daily cup?”
  • Overnight in Jorhat

Day 3: Transfer to Kaziranga – Agro-Ecotourism Introduction

  • Depart for Kaziranga National Park(approx. 2 hrs drive)
  • Check-in to eco-lodge/resort surrounded by tea gardens
  • Afternoon visit to a Tea & Eco Plantation near Kaziranga:
    • Learn about integration of tea cultivation with biodiversity conservation
    • Study visit on use of organic practices & eco-tourism models
  • Cultural evening with a talk on rural entrepreneurship in tea & tourism
  • Overnight in Kaziranga

Day 4: Wildlife Safari + Tea Plantation Exploration

  • Early morning Jeep Safari in Kaziranga National Park
    • Observe biodiversity: rhinos, elephants, birds
    • Field notes on landscape and conservation challenges
  • Return for breakfast
  • Visit to Hatikhuli or Difalu Tea Estate(Kaziranga region):
    • Learn about premium tea production
    • Understand differences in soil, microclimate, and harvesting techniques
  • Optional: Students can document the comparative tea practices in Kaziranga vs. Jorhat
  • Evening group discussion/presentation prep
  • Overnight in Kaziranga

Day 5: Return to Jorhat & Departure

  • Morning drive back to Jorhat
  • En route stop at a small-scale tea cooperativeor a roadside organic tea shop
  • Final interactive session: Summary of learning, feedback, and certificate distribution
  • Drop-off at Jorhat Airport/Railway Station
